  On july 31st 1970, one of the longest standing traditions in the british navy came to an end – the distribution of a daily tot of rum to sailors on board ship. This day went down in naval history as black tot day (hence the name) ! Black tot rum is the actual rum that was distributed to the sailors at the time. The last batch of it has just been released, there is only a limited supply & once it’s gone, it is gone...forever! We are pleased to announce that we have managed to procure a bit of this amazing piece of history! So note this down in your diary, the 31st of july is national black tot day & is a day to be celebrated at the red door w/ a whole lotta rum!

  This exceptionally fine whisky is the oldest single malt whisky within the highland park range & only one of a very few bottled 40 year old whiskies around! Highland park was named ‘best spirit in the world’ by USA whisky expert paul pacult in his 2005 ‘spirit journal listing of the world’s best distilled spirits’. The distillery itself is in a remote northerly island location giving access to unique heather peat from its own moor & water from the same spring that has fed the distillery for over two centuries!

  This rum was designed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of venezuela’s biggest selling rum brand ron pampero. The brand itself is named after the particular weather conditions ‘pampero’ that strike the pampas (fertile lowland) of south america. The dark mahogany colour is seductive & the taste does not let you down, lots of rich cocoa & vanilla flavours without being overly sweet, a buttery finish w/ a slight smoky note. 25 years of making venezuela (and the world) a happier place!

  El tesoro is spanish for “the treasure” & this tequila definitely lives up to its name as it has enough double gold medal awards in the world spirits competition to fill a treasure chest! Also made in jalisco, mexico (it’s where the best blue agave plants come from) , this tequila has no additional water added to it so you get the full flavour from the cognac & bourbon barrels that it is double matured in! Vanilla, cinnamon w/ a slight fruity sweetness & mild pepper finish.

  Tapatio is the mexican word meaning a person from guadalajara which is the capital city of the mexican state jalisco. This is very traditional tequila & so is made in the way it was a 100 years ago, by turning a big stone wheel to crush the agave, then mixed by foot w/ a man up to his chest in a barrel of agave juice (don’t worry he is clean!) . Rich & slightly creamy w/ cocoa & extra wood spices. Love it, don’t slam it!
