I was really disappointed with my order from AJs Kitchen in Dundee. I went for the Blazin burger with Cajun chips as a wee weekend treat through Just Eat, and honestly it just wasn’t good. The food tasted like basic frozen stuff chucked in a fryer, then covered with salt and spice to make it seem better than it was. The chicken burger itself was dry and processed tasting, and with the amount of decent chicken places in Dundee now, this is well below the standard for the price. I was lucky I had a 50 percent discount on Just Eat at the time, because if I’d paid full price I’d have been raging. Even with the discount it didn’t feel like value for money. Delivery was fine on the night, turned up warm and on time. The first time I ordered, it never arrived at all, but I’ve assumed that was a Just Eat issue rather than AJs. I’ve never sat in so I can’t comment on the restaurant itself. Overall, for a weekend treat it was so poor I felt I had to say something. I won’t be ordering from AJs again. Recently moved back to Dundee and ordered takeaway from AJs twice now. First time I had the pulled beef burger and it was nice, but the pulled beef was unseasoned and quite bland. Second time I ordered the mac and cheese burger and was really disappointed, as the burger itself was tough, rubbery and chewy - definitely not a freshly made burger. I suspect it was a cheap pre-frozen one. Good things are that the salt and chilli chips are tasty and delivery was fast. Will give them one more go as I'd like to try the steak pie, but so far in my experience and opinion the food is average and there's better out there.
