Bamm's is a really special place. The food is next-level good. Everything I have had is hearty, fun and delicious. Their burgers are phenomenal and their specials are creative and tasty. But above even the top-tier food is the vibe. Bamm's is warm, community-centred and welcoming. It's a one of a kind and much needed place for anyone to have a delicious meal and feel at home. This many 5-star reviews? Impossible. Either I hit BAMM! on the worst day of its existence, or some people out there have completely lost custody of their taste buds. Sure, the place is cute inside. Nice vibe. Nice look. Great, congratulations on the décor. But if you are ordering takeout, none of that matters when the food arrives and tastes like regret in a box. The burger was brutal. The texture felt like leftover off-cuts swept together as an afterthought, with way too much sinew running through it. Every bite felt like the cow was fighting back. And then there was the taste of the cook itself — gassy, off, unmistakable. Definitely not charcoal. Not even close. I have had better burgers at church picnics, school fundraisers, and sketchy roadside pop-ups with a guy in flip-flops running the grill. For the money they charge, this is absurd. The fries were another heartbreak. I love salt and vinegar fries, so I actually had hope for the vinegar-brined fries. That hope died fast. In just 15 minutes getting them home, they turned tough, stale, and weirdly lifeless, like overnight fries that had been left out to reflect on their failures. Barely any flavor, no joy, no redemption. And do not even get me started on that pizza topping salad. What in the confused, identity-crisis side dish was that? Who approved it? Why? Wamm Bamm? No thank you, ma’am. I have rarely been this disappointed by a burger and fries combo. This is not smash burger. This is emotional damage with a side of vinegar sadness. Amazing little restaurant, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Bamm’s Snack Shack has a homey feel when you walk in, you are greeted by warm smiles and if you are there Thursday to Saturday racks of delicious homemade doughnuts. Today was my first time visiting with my family, we tried the Brodie burger (single patty), a Doritos crusted chicken burger, tater tot pizza and cheese pizza. All the portions were huge and piping hot! I cannot recommend this spot enough. Go and try for yourself it is a definite must try if you are visiting Ottawa or a local alike. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Recommended dishes: Bamm Burger, Fries, Fresh Donuts
