One of the most beautiful locations for a pub. Staff were friendly and polite, the food very basic, but expected for the price advertised and edible. A few niggles for me, we went at 11:30am and the ladies toilets were gross, clearly not cleaned from the night before. Staff aren't very observant who is waiting at the bar so I ended up waiting longer as 3 people who came after me were served before me. Lastly the ketchup bottle exploded on the table and it literally went everywhere, mostly all over my clothes typically. I spoke to bar staff about it to apologise for the mess, thought I'd cleaned up what I could, and she explained it happens all the time as they get too warm. That annoyed me as its not ok knowing they do that to let unsuspecting people open the bottle to get covered. A sign where they are kept would have sufficed as I would have been more cautious. We ended up having to leave before getting to see the boats as I was absolutely covered, and even with cleaning my clothes with the kids baby wipes, it had left a right mess. I will return, but will be careful next time with any sauces... beware all. Price per person: £10–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Dietary restrictions: Catered for my daughter dairy allergy well. Limited choice though.

Sorry nic about the sauce incident sounds like you was having a great visit up until that moment I will try to rectify the issues huge apologies from myself and the team hope you have had a fab weekend

It's sort of standard pub grub, the steak was medium as asked for..... The peppercorn sauce was really tasty and I used it for dip my burger into because it was the only thing going for that burger... The patty sourced from the impossible company was good! I'm adding to this and then having to lower the rating now because having re-read the menu- definitely should have had some coleslaw there, not just a thin spread of something on the bottom bread of the burger. I've never even seen pretend stuff just spread like that onto the bottom of a burger...and I asked where are the onion rings as per the menu (I didn't read some page 6 small print) and got told you're not having them because they are not vegan or something even though it clearly says your burgers come with that there's some small prints and where possibly that says I can't have that but even if there was onion rings I have never ever seen an empty plate like that.. yeah we are looking at it again I definitely didn't get given the coleslaw it was just miserable..... I've attached photos to show the most bleakly decorated burger I've ever received - even McDonald's manages to put more things on. in fact the floppy iceberg and I think it was like one shred of onion that looked like it had come out of a cheese grater Were so swamped in the little bit of mayonnaise and, it was a double burger two burgers no relish no nothing.,. dry as anything yeah, and of course there was nothing else on the plate because I ordered the veggie burger they told me afterwards they don't give me onion rings like it says on the menu because it's vegan or something like that so it was a big empty rectangular space with a burger with nothing on it. the fries were good....... I wouldn't have let it out of my kitchen like that- all they needed was a bit of decoration to make you feel even 1/4 cared for.... I also checked again on the menu yes just checked it did say coleslaw no no that was one shred of red onion a tiny bit of lettuce all swamped in some cheap mayonnaise... Luckily we got this food with vouchers I certainly wouldn't come back and pay for it here.. I've scored low for the service but there was nothing wrong with it just didn't exist it was just like one of those ocado robots could have done the same thing because we weren't asked at any point what we thought of anything or did we need anything or anything like that but there was no problem with it either it was just characterless Price per person: £10–20 Food: 2 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3 Vegetarian options: It just seems that it gives them an excuse to not give you onion rings or other things because there's something in there that's not vegan and instead of replacing that with something else you just get the vegetarian patty or whatever and no sides on your plate at all

Hi Dave so sorry you didn’t enjoy your burger looks like you ordered the wrong burger it seems The impossible burger is vegan So will not include onion rings or coleslaw I’m afraid as both items are not vegan Unfortunately I’m a little sad we didn’t swap or rectify your meal on this occasion Hopefully we will see you again soon so we can be better with service and Help you choose your correct meal Have a fab day

I visited Waters Edge recently and felt compelled to write a detailed review because it turned out to be one of the more memorable pub-dining experiences I’ve had in Nottingham. From its canalside setting to the food, vibe and service — it ticks many boxes. What elevated it, though, was the outstanding service from one staff member in particular: Korey, the bartender/server. I’ll come back to him, but first a full review of the experience. Now to the part that really makes this place special: the service, in particular from Korey. From the moment we arrived, Korey greeted us with a genuine smile, made us feel immediately welcome, and took time to ask if we’d eaten here before (we hadn’t) and briefly talk through any specials. That personalised touch set the tone. Over the meal, Korey checked in at perfect intervals: after the mains arrived, he asked whether everything was cooked to our liking, topped up drinks proactively, and when there was a short delay for our desserts, he came by to apologise and offered us a complementary coffee while we waited — even though we hadn’t asked. That sort of proactive, attentive service is rare. At one point, I needed a small sauce modification (I prefer peri-peri mayo) and instead of simply saying they didn’t have it, Korey offered to mix a small portion of peri sauce and mayo himself — no fuss, just done. Little touches like that create a great impression. In short: Korey made the visit feel less like “another pub table” and more like “our table looked after”. He truly deserves special recognition as the best staff member I have experienced at a pub in a long time. Price per person: £100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
