I am sharing this review to describe my personal experience at Restaurant Baret in Berlin. From a visual and culinary perspective, the restaurant delivers on its concept. The space is modern and aesthetically pleasing, the view is impressive, and the food itself was good. The prices are high, but this aligns with the positioning of the restaurant and was therefore expected. Unfortunately, the overall service experience — particularly towards the end of the evening and at management level — fell significantly short of acceptable professional standards. Upon arrival, the reception felt rather cold and not particularly welcoming. Our first waiter initially appeared uncomfortable with a light and harmless joke, which created some tension at the beginning of the service. To be fair, as the evening progressed, his attitude became more relaxed and somewhat more approachable. However, first impressions are important, and this initial interaction already set a less positive tone for the experience. Later, we were served by a female waitress from Barcelona, who was consistently polite, attentive, and professional throughout the night. Her service was exemplary and clearly stood out in a positive way. We were fully aware that the restaurant closed at midnight, as this was clearly communicated to us. Near closing time, the bill was presented and paid in full (approximately 300€). We were preparing to leave when, exactly at midnight, my brother received a brief phone call marking the beginning of his birthday. At this point, the manager approached us and addressed us in an abrupt and aggressive manner, insisting that we leave immediately. I calmly explained that we had just paid and were already in the process of leaving, and that the phone call was simply a short birthday greeting. The manager’s response was inappropriate in tone and language and did not reflect the level of professionalism expected in a restaurant of this category. Despite the fact that we were already leaving and did not resist the request in any way, security was called to escort us out. This action felt unnecessary and escalated the situation without cause. The security staff themselves appeared confused, as there was no disturbance or refusal to comply. When I asked the manager to identify himself so that I could submit a formal complaint, he refused to provide his name, despite presenting himself as the manager on duty that evening (20 December). Berlin has a vibrant and diverse gastronomic scene, with many establishments offering not only good food but also respectful and professional service. Unfortunately, due to how this situation was handled, the overall impression of this visit was deeply disappointing. This review is not about expecting special treatment or staying beyond closing hours. It is simply about basic courtesy, respectful communication, and professional conduct. For these reasons, I am leaving a one-star review. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €90–100 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

One of the best discoveries on my Berlin trip. Exciting new flavours and tastes I have not experienced before anywhere. Wonderful setting, attentive staff, and select background music. The wild flower starter and the potato ice cream to end, were my highlights. Top thanks to the chef.
