Jedzenie Brytyjska jest warte spróbowania tutaj. Ta bar serwuje doskonale ugotowany Smażony dorsz, Placek rybny i Sałatki krabowe. Nic nie może być lepsze niż smakowanie smaczny pudding sticky toffee, panna cotta i Bajadera alaska. Miło jest spróbować pyszny stout, ale z cydr. Podczas wizyty w The Bell Inn koniecznie spróbuj dobry kawa z świetny herbata.

This is a pub with rooms (nice rooms) run as a chain by Adnams (I think - I might be wrong about that) so it loses a few points to being run by a book as it lacked its own 'personality'..but in this particular case, that equates to nought because The Bell Inn can carry that ...it will be here long after the present company offload it and some other tenant or manager comes along to take over the CPR. It has to be said that the staff at The Bell Inn make this place and keep it scraping in at a 5/5 - because they are all so nice its very difficult criticising The Bell Inn as a whole. But there is 1 area where they are sadly underperfoming ...The food. I would award The Bell Inn just 1 star for their attempts at providing food for their residents & non-residents alike. On our first night we ate at The Bell Inn. Fish pie; which I'm sure that I could manage .. came out of their kitchen like, well, like I'd cooked it; tasteless, bland, not enjoyable. We conveyed this to their maître d'hótel, and the cost was removed from our bill. Breakfast on the first day was 'ok', nothing to write home about. The cold buffet selection (no meats) of seemingly shop bought yoghurt (very sweet), croissants (may have been finished off on-site, but not prepared I think) and catering cereals was good enough - but all left uncovered; and in what served as the dining room/breakfast room this was a bad thing, because it was plagued by flies. As such, breakfast time felt like a scene from 'Tora! Tora! Tora!' where we were constantly being dive bombed by organised squadrons of experienced 'Zero's'! The hot food however, I must concede; was very nice & certainly filling. Plenty of just strong enough filter coffee which was one of the highlights of their effort. Again - the staff shone through at breakfast time with just a sufficient amount of service .. I am trying to compliment them here - please bare with me. I am not going to give a minute by minute account; just suffice to say that the staff shone through at every angle - so much so to say that I was made to feel like family rather than just a paying guest for the 4 nights that I/we stayed with them. I, amongst other ailments, am an insulin dependent Type 1 diabetic and unfortunately, for at least 2 of those 4 nights I was 'under the weather' with my diabetic alter ego demanding attention. They knew this, and went out of their way - over and above in my opinion, to help me with foods on their menu that they weren't serving at that time .. which DID help me to manage the condition - I am truly grateful for that assistance. On to the rooms .... There is no problem in this area whatsoever .. the rooms, the beds, the hotel mattresses, the noise levels, complementary drinks (chocolate! Yummy!), everything was 'no fault' .. even our room which was ground floor, right on the face of the property, where I (born again miserable old fart), did initially think that privacy would be compromised, noise levels would be more than I would have liked, but No - Privacy was guaranteed by thick nets and heavy 'blackout' curtains. These also helped to suppress the pedestrian noise created by patrons visiting the pub, completely acceptable. Finally, one final shout out for housekeeping who were fabulous - there when you wanted them, and they vanished when you didn't. Verdict? In my humble opinion, if The Bell Inn wants to score a comfortable 5/5 rather than a score teetering on a 4/5 or even less .. then search close to home for your weakest link. Your restaurant menu doesn't do it - its not diverse enough, the choice just isn't there .. what is offered, well .. I almost want to apologise for saying this, but it isn't very good - to this visitor, my experience? Underwhelming. What pub doesn't offer a steak on the menu? I was on holiday, the one thing that I was looking forward to, the one time that I would have paid silly money - No Steak! So - Go or not go? "Yes .. but be prepared to eat elsewhere, which means transport, and take a fly swatter"!

We recently visited this fantastic 600 year old pub and although we had a good time we noticed stark differences in staff attitude which slightly marred the experience. I have worked behind the bar in busy and well known venues and know what good service, even in busy periods, should be. Looking for any opportunity to say 'no' to a customer is not it. Being helpful, pleasant, knowing a little about the beers and facilities on offer is. Allowing someone to sample the beer before trying is a nice thing to do and can promote sales. The Adnams stout I sampled and then bought was delicious and because of the fantastic pub itself, the one courteous, clued up and interested staff member who sold me the stout, the good food and beer we will definitely return but staff training for many others is needed. Nobody wants a passive aggressive bar person whose first instinct appears to be a desire to disappoint or needle without being overtly rude; it's tiring. Nor do they want a disinterested, slightly sloppy person plonking your food on the table with zero engagement apart from uttering the name of your dish before languidly, shuffling away. That might be ok in a fast food venue but not an historic 600 year old pub. If the customers don't deserve better the pub does. Service: 4

This was certainly not up to the standard we have come to expect from ‘Adnams’ we have stayed here before and had a good experience, staff generally pretty good, but food very dry & bland, (it was only gammon and chips & scampi & chips) but chips felt like they were cooked hours before, 4 of us felt the same, very disappointed, waited about an hour for food to arrive, annoying when people who ordered after us were served before us, & as it was my wife’s birthday treat it sort of spoilt everything, nobody came to ask if our meal was okay, again something that generally happens, not sure if we will take friends there again, shame cos we are often in the area, as it’s a favourite place of ours.
