The Bell of Ticehurst is the true heart of Ticehurst. It is a genuinely historic hotel set in a 16th-century building, and from the moment you arrive you feel as though you've just stepped off a stagecoach. The welcome from the staff was warm and friendly, and they were always very helpful throughout our stay. We had a beautiful room with a large window above the reception, and a bathroom where you can soak in a wonderfully characterful, historic tub. Dinner was delicious. You can hear a little of the restaurant's buzz from the room, but the street outside was quiet, and we slept soundly in a comfortable bed. The hotel's style is historic and eclectic, and the garden with its outdoor seating is a real gem. The Bell isn't just a hotel — it's the heart of the village. It offers a warm welcome not only to its guests but to the whole local community: they invite people to set up stalls in front of the hotel to sell their products, host creative and social activities, celebrations and weddings, and even offer a working space with high-speed Wi-Fi. I love this approach. It is a truly living space.

Proper pub, proper food. Delivered with a smile. Loved our stay and our dining experience here. A menu with a twist, not just the good old pub classics, with plates small enough to share a range of dishes. Staff who cared to give proper service, both in rooms and dining. We were here on a Thursday night, not noisy and a good night's sleep was had. Not to be missed! Service: 5

The Bell in Ticehurst is easily one of the most characterful and flexible wedding venues I’ve worked at. From a photography perspective, it is a total gem; the natural light in the prep rooms is fantastic, and the ceremony room itself is gorgeous, offering a rustic, intimate atmosphere that looks incredible on camera. The flow of the venue is seamless - the stunning gardens provided a perfect backdrop for Ciara and Alex’s guests after the ceremony, while the firepit created a cozy, high-atmosphere focal point for the evening celebrations. With high-quality on-site accommodation as a bonus, it’s an ideal choice for couples wanting a quirky, stylish, and stress-free wedding day. Highly recommended! Service: 5
