As Munich residents visiting Passau for a weekend trip, we discovered the Biplano and were immediately impressed. As soon as we entered the restaurant we felt the warm, inviting atmosphere that transported us straight to Italy. The stylish decoration with rustic wooden furniture, charming pictures and soft candlelight made a significant contribution to making us immediately feel at home. The service at Biplano was outstanding. The servers were friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu. We particularly liked that they answered our questions with a smile and made recommendations that turned out to be a hit. The food was a real highlight. We started with a selection of antipasti which were fresh and tasty. Of particular note was the bruschetta – the bread was toasted to perfection and the topping of sun-ripened tomatoes and basil was to die for. For the main course we chose the homemade tagliatelle with truffle sauce and the Margherita pizza. The pasta was al dente and the truffle sauce was creamy, rich and flavorful. The pizza impressed with a crispy, thin base, fresh tomato sauce and generously topped with mozzarella. Finally, we treated ourselves to a tiramisu that was airy, light and not too sweet - the perfect end to a perfect evening. The wine list left nothing to be desired and offered a fine selection of Italian wines that went perfectly with the dishes. We chose a Chianti, which we really liked. The price-performance ratio at the Biplano is excellent. The quality of the food and the service completely justify the prices. Overall, our visit to Biplano was an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back and can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy atmosphere.
