Very disappointing experience. I received a $100 Boccaccio gift card as a donated raffle prize. The experience was poor from start to finish. We were the only customers in the restaurant, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. Our server never introduced himself, so I cannot identify him by name. My drink order was initially misunderstood, the appetizer was bland, and the bread basket we paid extra for contained only four small pieces of bread. The worst part was my pasta, which was so oily that I could barely eat it. I took a few bites, asked for it to go because I felt uncomfortable complaining in an otherwise empty restaurant, and threw it out after leaving. We had to go somewhere else afterward to eat. The payment situation made things even worse. Our bill was approximately $90, and I had a $100 gift card. I had already paid a $60 reservation deposit by credit card, so I asked if the deposit could simply be refunded to the same card so that the full bill could be charged to the gift card instead. I was repeatedly told there was “no way” to do that. What made this especially frustrating is that Boccaccio’s own published terms say that a required deposit will be applied toward the final balance on the day of service. The cancellation portion of their policy discusses losing the deposit if a reservation is cancelled outside the permitted window. We attended our reservation, and I could not find anything in their terms stating that a deposit cannot be refunded back to the original card so that a restaurant gift card can instead be used to pay the bill. I simply wanted to use the restaurant’s own gift card for the meal. Having worked in customer service, I found it frustrating to be told there was categorically “no way” to make an adjustment rather than simply being told that the restaurant was unwilling to do it or that it was their internal policy. I later emailed the restaurant directly, explained the entire situation, and asked them to refund the $60 to my card and deduct it from the gift card balance instead. I even said they could cancel the remaining gift card balance because I had no intention of returning. They never responded. This was especially disappointing considering the gift card was donated as a raffle prize for an organization I'm part of. I'm glad I was the person who won it rather than one of our guests. Between the food, service, payment issue, and lack of response afterward, I would not recommend Boccaccio. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $40–50

Awesome eatery, quality food, clean, great ambiance. Excellent service. Met Luciano the chef and owner. He came to our table to see how everything was. Amazing man and awesome chef. Our food was over the top. Had lunch from the Summerlicious menu and it was yummy and plentiful. Highly recommended. Our server Francesco was so polite and helpful. Amazing fine dining experience. Thanks Luciano. We will be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I have never left a negative review, but after spending $5,500 cash on my daughter's Confirmation dinner for 32 guests (29 adults and 3 children), I feel obligated to share my experience. My wife and I met with Chef Luciano a couple of times and selected a three-course menu and house wine based on his recommendations. We did not negotiate the price because we wanted a high-quality experience for an important family milestone. Unfortunately, the food and overall experience left me embarrassed in front of my family and guests. The antipasto was extremely sparse, consisting of very small portions of basic items that offered poor value for the price. I also upgraded to family-style calamari, which was heavily battered, poorly seasoned, and disappointing. The mushroom risotto lacked flavor and appeared to be made with low-quality button mushrooms rather than porcini mushrooms. Even simple requests such as Parmesan cheese were poorly handled, with guests waiting several minutes and receiving very small ramekins of Kraft Parmesan. The main course, Chef Luciano's "famous" short rib, was small and fatty, served over mashed potatoes that tasted processed and microwaved, accompanied by two small pieces of broccolini. The dish felt like a meal I would expect on an airplane. What frustrated me most was the significant gap between what was charged and what was delivered. Having attended countless events, I can honestly say this was the poorest catered event I have ever experienced. This was an important family milestone, and I left feeling ashamed that it was handled this way. Based on my experience, the food was nowhere near what was promised or what the price suggested.
