Although there are arguments against them, I quite like the British monarchy. Every country needs a head of state and I much prefer the idea of a non partisan Queen than an elected president, especially in these economically trying times. Who knows what kind of a monster we might elect in our darkest hour. It’s very Germany circa 1939. The monarchy also attracts tourists who spend more money than they cost, so it’s an economically sound concept. Nobody can argue that the marriage of Kate and Will didn’t benefit everyone, not least that we all got a lovely long weekend. The birth of the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge’s second child is one of those events that people are naturally drawn to, and to celebrate The Park Lane Hotel is hosting a baby-inspired afternoon tea.
