Popped in for a fantastic Sunday dinner today, can’t recommend it highly enough, food was wonderful as was the service if anything the picture I’ve uploaded doesn’t do it justice. Cauliflower cheese was a particular highlight 10/10. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

came for a meal on Thursday just gone with my family of 5. we had been to a few other local pubs during our holiday and all were delicious home cooked food so looking at reviews for the buck we felt we would have the same standards but I was wrong. the venue and staff were really nice, place was spotless, kids enjoyed their pasta Bolognese and a high chair for the baby so we were happy to start with. first part of my husband steak and ale pie was nice but as he went on it became very dry, pastry top was too thick and burnt inside. the meat was dry and tough. my chicken burger was boiled with no flavour and also dry and chewy. burger bun was dry and flavourless. the chips were alright. veg was nice. we had been out all day at the local steam train place and were starving so I ate mine and just added loads of sauce to try and mask it. husband left a 3rd because he just couldn't chew it. we expressed our dissatisfaction to the manager who started off nice but turned on us via our review on trip advisor. we are not professional complainers and have ate some amazing food at the honeypot inn, a fish place on Bridlington sea front and the best one was last night at the white horse Benton where every mouthful was out of this world. I am also not an amature food critic as you so rudely stated.... just a normal family that happens to go for meals a lot and know good food. if you take my advice of tweaking your meals you will get better reviews. I see someone else below me also had a horrible experience with your chicken. you need to get a new chef who isn't in pain with their knees because it isn't fair to him, coming from myself who also has knee issues and can't stand for long. my husband is a health and safety manager at his work place and has said he needs an occupational health assessment to see if he can remain at work or not and will be looking into this safety issue on our return home

Edit*we did not eat our meals and refuse to pay. A female manager was adamant that they was removing mine and my husbands from the bill after we offered 3 times to pay for the chips/salad/veg. We were also told by another staff member that the chips weren't home made at the moment due to it being busy.... We were looking round at empty tables
