Having recently bought a holiday home in the area, I have twice visited Cafe Legge in Hunstanton and both times have had a poor experience. 1. Sat outside, waited ages for someone to take my order, but eventually went inside and ordered a coffee. Whilst enjoying my coffee I was vaping. A tall thin man, presumably the manager/owner, came past and barked at me 'No smoking'. I replied that I was vaping, not smoking. 'Same thing' he replied. I said 'your sign saying no smoking should also say no vaping'. Very rude. 2. Went again this morning and sat outside. Not very busy. Waited at least 5 mins, then a male youth came and asked what I wanted. Asked to look at a menu. That was then brought (food only, no drinks menu). After another 5 mins someone else came to take my order - a Coke Zero and sausage sandwich with no sauce. Coke came with no ice and not very cold, despite it being about 28 degrees outside. Waiter came and asked me again what sauce I wanted. 'None', I replied. Sandwich arrived which contained a cheap sausage in dry bread. My partner then joined me and ordered a fizzy water (waitress said 'we only have still or sparkling'. Err, sparkling is fizzy water. One of the young waitresses stood next to our table gossiping and swearing for about 10 minutes with 2 of her friends who were walking by. Not what customers need to hear. No staff about to ask for bill so went inside to pay. A young waitress asked me if I had my order on a piece of paper. I hadn't been given anything so I replied such. She then asked what I had had, so I started to tell her. She then interrupted and said 'Coke and sausage sandwich'. I replied 'Plus a bottle of water'. Should have kept quiet as they hadn't recorded that. She then barked '£13.50'. So I replied with 'Please'. Paid on my phone and then said 'the service in here is lacking'. As I walked away she shouted after me 'What the hell'. What a great customer service response! The place appeared to be run by what look like school kids with no manners or customer service skills whatsoever. Possibly behaviour learned from the management team?? Would not recommend unless you want staff with an attitude. Won't be spending any further money there. The Terrace cafe/restaurant across the road is much nicer and the staff more appreciative of the custom.
