I had lunch at this restaurant with high expectations, especially considering it’s located inside The Peninsula London. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, and the quality of the food was good. The dim sum was enjoyable, and the ingredients tasted fresh. However, the main course was honestly disappointing. The portion of fish was unbelievably small – it genuinely looked more like a children’s meal than a main course in a luxury hotel. I’ve had lunch menus at equally renowned, if not even more famous, restaurants, and they served generous, satisfying portions. This felt unreasonably small and, for the price and reputation, quite disappointing. What disappointed me even more was the service. The chef came out of the kitchen, greeted the other occupied tables, introduced herself, and chatted with the guests. There were only three tables occupied, including ours. Yet our table was completely ignored. Being the only guests who weren’t acknowledged felt disrespectful and left us wondering why we were treated differently. Whether intentional or not, that’s simply not the level of hospitality I expect from a luxury establishment. Overall, the restaurant is elegant, and the food quality is there, but the extremely small main course and the inconsistent service significantly affected the experience. For that reason, I can only give 3 stars. Canton Blue at The Peninsula London - an absolute triumph. I had lunch here today and left already plotting my return. The prawn dumplings were sensational: delicate, glossy parcels with a plump, sweet filling that practically dissolved on the palate. The Kung Pao chicken was every bit their equal, perfectly balanced between heat, smoke, and that moreish savoury depth that keeps you going back for one more forkful. The service was sublime from start to finish, attentive without ever hovering, and delivered with genuine warmth and precision. And the setting is, of course, spectacular. The Peninsula is one of London's finest hotels, and Canton Blue lives up to its surroundings with elegant, atmospheric interiors that make the whole experience feel like an occasion. If you appreciate exceptional Cantonese cooking in a truly special setting, you must visit. I cannot recommend it highly enough. Five stars. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
