The food was beautifully presented and did have lovely flavour combinations. Service was attentive. The location was dated and the plastic folder wine menu was pretty naff. At the end of the meal we think it was the owner came over to our table and called it the “naughty table in the corner” as it was a corner table crammed next to the brickwork and cobwebs! Food on the Sunday deal was reasonable not at full price though. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

Went on Thursday night. Place is not the easiest to find as it's off the main road and not well lit at all. The staff were friendly enough. I was expecting to be blown away by the food looking at the reviews, but no. Had beef to start and it was nice and tender but overwhelmed by the mustard sauce and only luke warm. Mains was venison. Looked nice but tasted smoky. Crispy kale tasted like it had been deep fried in the fat they had cooked their breakfast with, again like warm with a cold plate. My wife was also disappointed with her food for similar reasons. We had a starter and main each, I drank one coke and she had one glass of wine and it was just over £108 without service charge. First and last time we will ever go there unfortunately

Without doubt the best restaurant in the area. Viv is a great chef, very talented and with a wide repertoire. Her husband Cass runs the front of house in a very friendly and helpful manner. We have never had a bad meal here and look forward to our next visit.
