I just walked past this Italian inspired business "Osteria" as an Italian local living in Barnes and I noticed that it's using proper table cloths and napkins and I want to take the time to compliment this business about this aspect. The choice does reflect the authentic spirit of the traditional Italian hospitality experience a true tribute to the real sacred spirit of dining. In a sector that elsewhere as forgot manners this is a touch of a real professional and I wish all the best to this business. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The atmosphere is relaxed, cosy and welcoming with a lovely neighbourhood feel and is now a local favourite. The menu is fantastic, great selection of Italian wine, small plates, delicious pasta and beautifully made pizzas. We had high hopes for this restaurant especially as there are not many really good restaurants in Barnes, but sadly as some reviews say the food was very bland and completely lacked depth of flavour. For £22 we received four(!) very small and not very seasoned grilled prawns with a bit of side salad. The pasta dishes had no depth to them at all and the veal Milanese turned out to be chicken (which we decided not to order). The place has a nice atmosphere and someone spent money on freshening it up, but the shy and inexperienced service and the poor food let this down massively. Italian food is really not very complicated but it needs excellent seasonal ingredients and depth of flavour. This sadly had neither. A real shame and a missed opportunity.
