We asked for sparkling wine which accompanied the afternoon tea and were offered some water too which both were lovely and refreshing.
When the afternoon tea was delivered, we were not told what was on the sandwiches or what any of the desserts were. We had to ask for a side plate each and weren’t even given a spoon to eat the potted dessert (we weren’t told what it was!).
The afternoon tea consisted of three finger sandwiches, two cakes each, a scone each and a mysterious dessert.
The sandwiches were fine and tasty. The first cake we had was clearly stale and rock hard. It was inedible.
The second cake, a black forest gateau was actually quite palatable, as was the mysterious potted dessert. However, not once during our meal we’re we visited to ask how things were or if we wanted anymore drinks.
We got the impression that since we had already paid via Groupon, we weren’t important or didn’t need to be cared for. A shame, since we would have had a couple of drinks there were we asked. A disappointing experience.
