Discovered this spot through Instagram. Super cute spot / wine bar and the vibe is lovely. The food menu option is kind of limited, I guess the wine is the focus, but I felt like everything we ordered from the menu really hit. The fish was beautiful and delicious with a bit of a citrus taste. The beef tartare had a good pickle taste to it and the egg yolk on top was nice and creamy. We also got the mapo tofu pasta and it was such a delicious mix! They also had a Chinese knot tying activity in the spirit of Chinese Valentine’s Day which was a cute little add on to our dinner. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $40–50

I was really excited to try this place as I heard about them on TikTok, loved the vibe and was curious about seeing the interplay of Asian and French cuisines. The wine was lovely, the food was interesting - but unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. My friend and I came in at 4:45 to catch the happy hour as well as order some of their food (which is only available after 5pm). We were the first table to receive food and our mapo tofu pasta was cold. Given there was no rush, we assumed it was meant to be like that until another table entered and their plate arrived steaming hot. At that point, we had finished the dish but still decided to say something. The response from the server was unprofessional. First, she said it was not meant to be like that and when she checked with the kitchen, they were confused. Seeing as she brought out the plate, I question how she didn’t notice? They offered to remake it but since we already finished, we asked for it to be taken off the bill. She seemed unsure, walked away and then proceeded to ignore us for several, serving other tables without any explanation for a resolution. A simple “let me get this sorted for you” would’ve sufficed. There was an immediate unwelcome vibe & when she brought the bill several minutes later without a word except “it’s been taken off the bill”, we felt like we were being kicked out. It’s a shame because my experience prior to this interaction was quite positive but with the way it concluded, I would not recommend. There are other wine bars with cool offerings *and* friendly staff. Food: 3 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 4

Thank you for taking the time to write this so thoughtfully. We can hear how much you wanted to love the experience, and that makes this all the more important for us to address.There's no excuse for the food coming out cold, especially as the first table of the night. And more than that, the way it was handled afterward is not the standard we hold ourselves to. You deserved a clear, calm resolution and at minimum a simple acknowledgement. Not silence and an awkward bill drop. We're genuinely sorry that's how your visit ended.We're taking this seriously internally. Absolutely enamored by the experience we had at Chez Wa, the owner was so open to tell us the stories surrounding the wines and had such amazing recommendations that without a doubt were one of a kind and broaden the horizon of my palette, my friend and I are more of casual drinkers so this truthfully was such an interesting and fun time to learn and taste the craft that goes into wine and sake. Even more miraculously we came on the day of a pop up by Parfois that had delicious savory and sweet flavors. The whole time there was honestly some of the best time I’ve had in any wine bar in the city. We hope to comeback again and all the best for this blossoming business that was clearly made from lots of appreciation and love. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–60
