Food was good. The restaurant insisted you pay before the meal was finished, most unusual! Service was very brusque and not exactly polite. I won’t be recommending to friends or returning. We visited Chikayan after a very long time and decided to go for the eat as much as you like menu, only to realise that the menu has been significantly reduced. Many of the dishes we used to enjoy have been removed and this menu isn’t available anywhere online, which is why I’m posting about it. The food was still as good as we remembered. Unfortunately, the service was really bad. The waitresses serving us were rude and grumpy when taking our orders. Every time we asked for drinks, it felt like an inconvenience to them. We had three children with us and they occasionally walked around the table so they didn’t get restless from sitting the entire time. We were seated in a corner and weren’t in anyone else’s way, yet the waitresses constantly complained about the children walking around. It made us feel like this is not a child friendly restaurant at all. The restaurant itself is also very dull and boring. While the eat as much as you like price is reasonable, we were told that the service charge is compulsory and cannot be removed, despite this not being stated on the menu. Very disappointing experience and won’t be returning. Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2

We understand that after a long period between visits, impressions of past menus may differ. Our menus are always based on what is available in the restaurant on the day, and we will consider providing clearer online information to help avoid any misunderstandings in the future.We take service feedback seriously and will remind our staff to remain professional and courteous, even during busy periods.With regard to children moving around the dining area, our team’s intention is purely for safety reasons, as hot dishes and drinks are frequently carried through the restaurant. This was not meant to make any family feel unwelcome, and we fully understand that dining with children can be challenging.Concerning the service charge, our restaurant operates with a fixed service charge policy. We will review how this information is displayed to ensure it is communicated more clearly to our guests.Thank you again for your feedback. We value all comments as they help us improve our service.
