BEWARE - DO NOT BOOK AN EVENT HERE OR IT MAY BE CANCELLED AN HOUR BEFORE DESPITE BEING FULLY PREPAID I was meant to be a guest at a baby shower here on Sunday, and I honestly wouldn't recommend booking an event at this venue. The baby shower had been booked for months, was fully paid for, and was even confirmed again on the Tuesday before the event. Despite that, we received a message just one hour before it was due to start saying the venue had been double booked. By that point, we were already in the area with the cake (which was then ruined because of the heat), decorations, gifts and everything needed for the day. When we arrived, another baby shower was already inside being set up. Guests then started arriving while we were left outside trying to work out what was happening. The young members of staff who had to deal with the situation were genuinely apologetic and did their best. They were clearly put in an impossible position, and none of this was their fault. What was completely unacceptable was the manager's response. He refused to come out and speak to us, leaving his young staff to deal with an understandably upset group of people. The only resolution offered at the time was £100 refund in cash, with the remainder of the refund to be sorted later. At no point did the manager have the decency to come and apologise or help in person. The level of stress this caused, particularly for the heavily pregnant mum-to-be, was completely unnecessary. Everyone understands that mistakes can happen, but this wasn't just a simple mistake. The booking had been confirmed only days earlier and had been fully paid for months. The lack of accountability and professionalism afterwards was what made the situation even worse. If you're considering booking a birthday, baby shower, christening or any other special event here, I'd think very carefully. A venue that can double book a fully confirmed event and then refuse to face the customers when things go wrong is not somewhere I would trust with an important occasion. Went to coast due location , which is why we gave a 2 star for atmosphere. The views across the bay are lovely. Ordered 2 x Ham hock sandwiches as they looked decent on the photos. (See photos below). To start with the sandwiches took 30 minutes to arrive and no apology offered. Secondly, we requested a cloth to clean the table after it was partial cleared (I cleared the rest myself). Unfortunately the ham was not hock rather chopped up sliced ham, the menus advised these came with shoelace fries, again the fries were not as described and basic air fried chips chopped up and thrown on the bun. This also came advertised with homemade pickles as a lovely addition for any ham hock, these did not materialise and instead they provided lettuce. To be fair after we complained we were offered a full refund, which I declined as I had eaten the sandwich due to feeling starved after a 30 minute wait. Left with a complimentary can of Diet Coke. The photo of the woman holding the sandwich is the advertised sandwich, the others are what arrived. For reference the sandwiches were 9.95 pounds each.
