Having eaten here many times before it closed we were so excited to see that Scilly had reopened. We booked and when we arrived the restaurant was full which was a great sign. We ordered our drinks and our favourite starter antipasto. What came out was a shock. The smallest antipasto board, pieces of cheese so small a mouse would have been left hungry, shreds of Parma ham no actual pieces, packet salami that was dry, it was spalling and not enough for 1 person let alone 2. The wine came out as warm snd in the strangest glass ever, not a normal wine glass. We spoke to the owner who was incredibly apologetic and assured us our mains would ne incredible.
Over an hour later, we were waiting still for our mains, in the meantime the table next to us had to complain that their food was inedible , the wine so old there was mould on the bottle, they left without paying and hungry!!
We were after an hour had passed advised our mains order had been forgotten, an hour snd a half later our seafood spaghetti arrived. It’s looked awful, the spaghetti was not fresh, stodgy and stuck together, the mussels were rotten, unopened and the ones that had opened were rotten inside it was disgusting and we asked why the chef would send out food like this, the response was the owner blaming the fish supplier. The prawns, they only put in the heads and tails, no actual prawn to eat and 5 clams.
Although these 2 meals we did not pay for we also left disappointed in that our favourite restaurant had turned into a money making, prices have increased, place where the food is inedible snd you are likely to get food poisoning from the seafood.
We were one of their biggest fans, a repeat customer, since reopening we would never return and if you don’t want a disgusting meal then avoid at all cost.
The owner snd chef should be ashamed of themselves letting this food (in the loosest term) be served let alone charge for it!! Shame on you.
