I am wondering if Cook County Saloon has new ownership because of some disapointing experiences lately... My daughter and her friends were there a few weeks ago for a 25th birthday and I was not happy at all hearing how the night went for them. She had heard some stories from staff about things being different there now and how management treats their servers but they still went. Some rude customers were making crude sexual comments toward them and even the server seemed uncomfortable with it. That should not be something young women have to just sit through when they are trying to celebrate. As a mother, that is hard to hear. The service was not very good or caring and the whole party said it was not the kind of night they hav had at cook county before. I don’t go out much anymore as I am a mother and I was on Whyte Avenue last weekend with a few girlfriends and we stopped in. They did some big renovations and new room is beautiful. It looks like a lot of effort and thought was put into it But what a shame... because the building feels like it lost its soul. The staff were polite but different. everyone seemed like robots. No smiles and it just looked like they were not enjoying the work. It did not feel like how I remember it at all and it wasn’t even close to being as busy. For me it felt cold and too serious. Security was the one thing that was stupendous. They were professional and very sweet and that part still felt right. Everything else just made me sad to see. This place used to feel different. everything in this world is changing and its sad to see it at cook Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1

Feels more like a senior center than a saloon now the room has more of a plain banquet hall feel and the place just wasn’t really busy anymore. Managers are rude. The food was really good and it’s good for a quality steak in an unexpected quiet spot but I didn’t expect the menu prices. Just know you’ll be spending a bit more than you planned for your night. Late night scene has better spots in the city now. Price per person: $60–70 Food: 4 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 1

I walked past this place earlier and it smelled fantastic, which is what led to my decision to eat here. First thing to note is I did not expect this to be a club, so keep that in mind should you decide to Waltz on in. Make sure you have an ID because they will scan it even if you’re just here to eat. I found the layout kind of confusing, but the bartenders and waitstaff were super friendly and helpful. I ordered the house burger and the first thing I noticed is some information lacking on the menu. Not all of the ingredients were listed, which could pose some issues for those with food allergies. There was some sort of house salsa type mixture on the sandwich, and I have no clue what was in it. The sandwich itself was not above average in size- it was, however, delicious. The fries were also pretty good, however the portion was very small. I asked if they had barbecue sauce or hot sauce and they wanted to charge $3 extra for each which I think is completely absurd, considering 1: I am already paying $25 for this rather small meal (not including a drink) and 2: most bars bring a bottle of barbecue sauce to the table without even asking, let alone up-charging for it. While the food was pretty good overall, you’re not getting a great value in my opinion. There was nothing particularly special other than the mystery salsa. As for the atmosphere, if you’re into country you’ll probably vibe pretty well with the place. I do wish more club venues had food, definitely keep doing that! Price per person: $20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3
