DO NOT VISIT THIS COSTA. SAVE YOUR TIME AND ENERGY. Me and my wife where at the hospital today for checkup and once done we thought of having some coffee and breakfast at this Costa. Waited at the counter for 15 minutes and the staff was busy chatting with eachother. There saw us few times and we also called them couple of times but no response. They ignored us for 10 to 15 minutes and we decided not to order anything as they were least bothered. There was another elderly couple behind us who were also ignored and even they did not order as its so disrespectful behaviour. Pathetic service. I am shocked that even after 100s of 1 star reviews no action is taken by the hospital or Costa as a company. Meal type: Breakfast Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I was really disappointed with my experience. The coffee is overpriced for what you actually get—£4.30 is simply too much, especially considering this is a hospital where prices should be more reasonable and accessible for everyone. On top of that, the service was poor. The staff seemed uninterested, unhelpful, and quite rude, which made the whole visit uncomfortable. I wouldn’t recommend this place if you expect good value or friendly service. Meal type: Brunch Price per person: £10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Arrived very early for an outpatient appointment at James Cook University Hospital today and thought I'd get a drink and wait here but it was so crowded and noisy that I couldn't face it. I kept on walking and proceeding along the Orange Route I came across The Hideaway Coffee Shop, which was indeed hidden away behind the Rendezvous Restaurant and mainly frequented by hospital staff. Although a bit run down and scruffy in parts, I got both a mug of tea and a nice slice of Victoria Sponge for the same price as a cup of average Costa coffee. The cheese scones looked nice and homemade, while fruit scones had sold out. I enjoyed sitting outside in the courtyard area and arrived nicely refreshed for my appointment. Meal type: Other Price per person: £1–10 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2
