I went in to Costa today 1/07/26 (around 8am) to be greeted by a lovely girl with blonde hair I wasn’t able to catch her name but she was very friendly and welcoming. She took our order in good time and actually gave me a compliment which really made my day! Drinks were made by a man and they were also perfect. Really lovely encounter and just sets up your day. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

The One Bean Embarrassment Last week, I made the fateful decision to step into Costa Coffee at 48 Earl Grey Street, Edinburgh. All I wanted was a simple Latte and to collect my precious “bean” towards a free coffee. But oh... I approached the counter with the hopeful enthusiasm of a loyal customer. Instead, I was met by a cashier whose facial expression could only be described as a combination of existential dread and silent disdain. She was smiling - at her phone, not at me. She proceeded to make my Latte with the mechanical indifference of a sleep-deprived robot. I scanned my barcode, paid, and as the cup slid across the counter, I was greeted with a barely audible grunt that might have meant “here you go”... or “get lost.” It wasn’t until later that day that I realised the ultimate insult: my “bean” hadn’t even been added to my account. The whole point of enduring this ordeal was to edge closer to that fabled free coffee, and it was snatched away from me. So, I contacted Costa Support. I described the situation. After days of waiting and requests for receipts and proof of purchase (because clearly my word isn’t worth a single roasted bean), I finally received an apology. And one lonely bean was begrudgingly credited to my account. Let’s be real: after this entire saga of poor service, missing rewards, and the bureaucratic nightmare that followed, you’d expect Costa to offer a free coffee as a gesture of goodwill. But no.
