Had a family member's 50th Bday here. The food, as always, was excellent. They even allowed us to order a cake (made in house, pre-ordered) which was a lovely touch and made the meal effortless. Portion sizes are generous. The fish is always cooked exquisitely, and the service on par with any top restaurant in Edinburgh. The location next to the harbour adds to the charm, and there is always a fabulous catch of the day to be had from lobster to sea bass. Size wise, it is an intimate restaurant, so generally it is a must to pre-book so you are not disappointed. Unfortunately, due to size and an open kitchen they cannot accommodate dogs, so the furry friends will have to skip this one. The selection of wine, cocktails and a single type of lager (for those of us that way inclined) is sufficient and curated well, with the ability of being able to order prosecco or wine by the glass being a rare joy. Overall, this is a family run establishment with the charm and ease of such, but a place that can and should aspire to Michelin star status. I wish them every success moving forward. Their heartwarming, unpretentious dishes and beautiful flavour profiles make every meal special, and I truly hope to be lucky enough to continue dining with them for years to come. I ate there with my family, the staff was very welcoming, all the food was amazing, we looked at the bottom of there menu and you can see from where all their food is from, mainly local fishermen and farms. The music is perfect. What was also amazing is their prices, it’s not very expensive for what you get, I always complain in restaurants because they generally don’t serve big quantities but here I got a whole sea bass freshly caught for only 24£. Sadly we just stopped buying because Dunbar was on the way. Overall one of the best restaurants I’ve been in during my 10 day trip in Scotland. I really recommend. On a day trip to Dunbar after exploring the harbor area and Dunbar Castle ruins today, it was definitely time for hot soup. Having noticed The Creel on our way there, we made it our choice for lunch. The atmosphere and decor are as charming and cosy as it gets. Our server, Diane, was wonderfully welcoming and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed the soup of the day, parsnip and parsley, served with lovely warm bread. Having spotted triple fried chips on the menu, we were intrigued and had those too. Great! I don't know that I've ever posted a photo of a Ladies loo but theirs is so nicely decorated and clean, I am! Highly recommend, and due to it's cosy size, I think reservations are recommended but we had no problem being seated without. Oh yes, the "standing fish" pictured holds water for the table. It's not only fun to pour, but the fish makes the cutest burbling sound when it's returned to upright! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £10–20
