First time visiting and wow, the food!! We all ordered mega roasts and each of the meats were cooked to perfection, so tender and full of flavour. All the sides were delicious as well. We didnt have room for dessert!! Food was brought out promptly and we were able to access extra gravy & sauces. I can simply say it was the best pub roast I have ever eaten! The only downside to our visit was we booked for a table with wheelchair access, and we were given a table at the back of the pub and had to go up and down 3 sets of stairs - luckily I am an ambulatory wheelchair user and able to walk a short distance but my husband then had to carry my powerchair, which wasnt so easy. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Went for the first time for Sunday lunch. Service was excellent, especially as one of our party managed to knock over a large coffee as soon as it arrived - no drama, just efficiently cleaned up and replacement provided free of charge. Food was really lovely. Lots of very tasty veg, excellent cauliflower and broccoli cheese, lovely stuffing, superb pork. All other meats were equally lovely. On a couple of very minor criticisms, the pork cracking was ‘interesting’ - very ‘puffy’, not like normal crackling and the food overall could have been a bit hotter. That said the place must have had about 70+ covers so hard to bring everything out piping hot. We will be back and maybe ask for alter gravy to be in a jug and extra hot next time so help. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Went today . Two Christmas meals. Nice enough but no green veg. Potatoes hard and dry. Roast meals were lovely when first opened but now average . A bottle of Pinot £30. Bit steep. Service ok staff nice. This pub is really child friendly almost too much . Prams and kids were beginning to run everywhere all ages . Too many tables squeezed in make it very crowded. I like family pubs but I never let my children just run around unsupervised. It has been like this on many occasions and the restaurant area is often booked out with lots of kids and parents. We paid a fair bit for this meal and it was spoilt by a constant procession of kids going back and forth. Personally I think kids should be kept in the restaurant area as they do in the Broadwater Pub. Many parents are more concerned with having a good time rather than supervising their kids and it's such a lovely place . For this reason and the price of drinks we won't be coming so often. Christmas Eve last year was rammed with noone monitoring the constant stream of prams entering . Bar staff were overwhelmed. Unpleasant .
