This place is near perfect. I moved to Callander from England 8 months ago and I started testing various local eateries. Deli Ecosse has been my absolute go to place for Scottish breakfast and coffee. I have also tried out nearly everything on the menu! (The baked potatoes are big!) When my brother in law Sam visited from Portugal he was well-compensated with a varied and delicious gluten free food options and upon visitation from my younger sister Charlie she was greeted by the delicious (her words) vegan menu options. So definitely go here if you're gluten free or vegan (or if you just want to try the stuff out). I suppose one of their best accolades was their impeccable service from the young staff. When I had ordered the wrong thing (im such a fool) the short young lady was understanding and sorted it out for me, again the same when I spilt my yellow smoothie down the table and again (i know im a clutz) spilt milk down the floorboards . They were also fast and super responsive, very kind and understanding, good for some small talk but happy to leave you alone. For the older member of staff, possibly the owner I felt quite uncomfortable sometimes. They seem to march around shouting at members of staff trying to do their job, often shouting at a tone and volume that just creates a very unsettling atmosphere. Believe me I worked in catering for 20 years, pubs, restaurants, chippies, cafes, also shops etc, so I know what the industry is like for the inside. I failed to run my own cafe so I can understand the stresses of owning and running your own business but its a #1 rule to not take that anger and frustration out on people, not exceptions, its just immature childish and unprofessional behaviour. And it pisses me off because I really really like the food here and its a characteristic building and atmosphere, the behaviour of the owner just really brings this rating down. I also see other reviews pointing out this same behaviour but I feel its not being addressed because its a small place and probably uncomfortable for this owner lady to confront her flaws, without trying to blame her staff probably! Also in the 8 months I've been coming in, the atmosphere has been mostly the same. And meeting various locals ( they shall not be named! ) the feeling is mutual, some people can tolerate the behaviour ( i guess they only get the good side ) and some people hate the place with a passion ( a bit extreme! ) Also when i come in and order a panini, nobody cares if its your last one! When you loudly complain about it infront of me like its a problem im ordering food from you then say no more and expect no more business. Exceptional food. I went with the baked potato with tuna and mayonnaise. Crispy outside, fluffy inside and incredibly tasty. The only downside was the price (as it was a bit more expensive than anticipated) but thats understandable as Callandar is a town that attracts tourists.

Lovely cafe, simple yet nice menu! I really enjoyed the baked potato, cheese beans & coleslaw! Wife had the soup and she loved it too.
