“A Cornwall favourite with stunning views and great food — but book ahead!”. The Devonport Inn sits right on the waterfront in the charming, virtually traffic‑free village of Kingsand. Out of the four pubs we tried during our stay, this was by far our favourite — a must‑visit when exploring the Rame Peninsula. The location is simply spectacular, whether summer or winter. Just yards from the beach with unobstructed views across the bay, we loved sipping drinks by the log fire while watching waves crash against the storm breaks — the setting really added to the experience. The Inn has a relaxed, friendly vibe. Dogs are welcomed everywhere, with blankets and treats provided — a real plus for pet lovers. Food & Drink. We give the Devonport Inn top marks for its fresh, locally caught seafood, often landed just around the corner by the fisherman himself. The menu changes seasonally, and everything is cooked fresh to order. Portions are generous, flavours are excellent, and while some dishes might seem pricey, the quality and freshness make it worth it. Booking ahead is essential due to limited spaces. The drinks menu is also impressive. Ryan, more than a bartender, is more than willing to craft special cocktails — we tried the festive “Festive Flip” for Christmas, made with Remy Martin VSOP, free-range egg, spices, and sugar. At £12.50, it was a steal compared to expensive, uninspiring cocktails elsewhere. Local ales like the “Legend,” Cornish ciders, and a curated wine list round out the options perfectly. Service & Atmosphere. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. On very busy days service might be a little stretched, but this adds to the charm — it’s not soulless fast food, it’s warm, personal hospitality. Tips & Takeaways:. Book ahead, especially during peak season. Dog-friendly and welcoming. Perfect for couples seeking a cozy pre-Christmas break. Try to snag a table by the fire — it’s magical. Can get busy, but always worth it. If you’re in Kingsand, don’t miss The Devonport Inn — amazing food, beautiful views, and a truly inviting atmosphere.
