We haven’t been to El Castello for many years. Back then, the Fleet and Odiham restaurants had the same owners and menu, although I believe they’re separate businesses now. The food was incredible – beautifully cooked, really well presented and absolutely delicious. The only slight disappointment was the portion sizes. Whilst the fillet steak itself was a decent size, it came with just three small new potatoes cut in half and three sprigs of asparagus (see the photo), all for £34.95. Personally, I’d rather have a slightly smaller cut of steak and a more generous portion of potatoes and vegetables. Looking back at the menu, I can see I should probably have ordered a side of vegetables for £6.95. I completely appreciate they’re using premium ingredients, and the steak was superb and cooked to perfection, but it just felt a bit too “Michelin star” in terms of portion size for the price in a local town like Fleet. My only other small moan was the temperature. Unfortunately, the air conditioning wasn’t working, so it was really hot inside. They had both the front and back doors open to get some airflow through, which is understandable, but it did mean cigarette smoke drifted in from the back, where one of the kitchen staff was smoking. It was quite a strong smell and, whilst not the end of the world, it did take the edge off the meal. That said, the service was impeccable and the quality of the food really is first class. I know this review probably sounds a little critical, but even years ago I always felt El Castello was a cut above the rest, and I still think that today. I’ll definitely be back, although probably when it’s a bit cooler or once the air conditioning has been fixed, as it was just a little too uncomfortable on such a hot evening. It’ll probably be more of an occasional treat for us, as the prices are on the higher side for the local area, but the quality of the food is hard to fault. We went there in June for a family wedding anniversary it was
A very nice evening with our family and friends, so we decided to go back last night for my birthday. It was not very busy plenty of staff, we ordered a nice bottle of BOLO not cheap , the young lady opened it poured and walk away we saw her said that is not we ordered and changed it.she was very sweet, she our order and told us it would be about 15 / 20 minutes which was OK, 55mins later the food arrived my wife had a beef pasta dish it was dry and looked at the dish and said its probably taste better than it looked ( or not ) .I had pork medallion which looked and tasted like an old flipflop could eat it afterwards we decided to pay our bill and .I was asked how was the food and told him/ and the waitress it was pretty poor the guy in same flower shirt as last time he had the same shirt on it might need a wash we were not impressed won't go back not a cheap meal either so thank El_ Castello of fleet making my birthday not a night to remember

Sadly declined hugely. Service is now abysmal. Used to be a lovely restaurant. No longer.
