We went in only to be told that the restaurant accepted pre-booked customers only, despite there being several empty tables and only a few customers dining at the time.

I completely understand your disappointment and appreciate you bringing this to our attention. The process that was followed in this instance was unauthorised and carried out by an individual for one week in June and no longer part of our organisation. Since becoming aware of this, we have implemented additional measures and safeguards to ensure this does not happen again in the future. We wanted to enjoy the spectacular view from the hotel restaurant *open to public* restaurant just to find out that the completely empty restaurant 'is for the guests only'. So I thought I'd reciprocate the business or love message.

This restaurant enjoys one of the most stunning positions in Tenby, with wide reaching views of the sea and the coast. However, I’m afraid that is where praise for this restaurant ends as we had one of the worst dining experiences ever there last night. We booked for a family celebration and wanted somewhere a bit special and different, but had left it very late to book so the usual places we would go were fully booked on the last Friday of half term. It has to be said that the staff were welcoming and friendly though. I was told that they didn’t have a children’s menu which wasn’t a great start given that it was half term and Tenby is famously a family holiday destination. They did offer fish fingers or chicken nuggets which neither of my kids much like. I asked if they could do some plain pasta with cheese since they have other pasta dishes on the menu, but I was told that wasn’t possible as everything is pre-made - not what I would expect from a restaurant charging central London prices! We ordered drinks, but the waitress had to be reminded twice about the soda water we had ordered, and when it eventually came mine was lemonade. We then ordered food, and when it came there was no sign of the fresh bread that was billed to accompany my father’s Pembrokeshire broth and again had to ask 3 times for that. The menu seemed quite interesting which is one of the reasons why we booked, but I’m afraid the food was at best tasteless, and at worst disgusting. My Dad said the Pembrokeshire seafood broth was lacking in any flavour, and my husband’s risotto honestly looked like mashed potato and tasted like school rice pudding - totally lacking in texture or flavour and really disgusting. I had the beef wellington - which for £34 should have been amazing, but the beef was, I suspect, separately cooked before being put into the pastry to cook again, and was chewy, dry and over-done. And the Korean tofu noodles was inedible - the tofu completely dry and tasting like card board and the rice noodles in a big clump and looking like they were out of a packet. We considered sending some of the food back but didn’t want to make a fuss in front of a big 50th birthday party happening at the next door table. But now realise why this was the only restaurant in Tenby with space for a last minute booking. Since the staff were friendly and sweet with the kids, and I think were aware that we weren’t impressed with our meal, we wanted to offer a tip for them but were told that they could only accept cash and it wasn’t possible to add service on the card - again very unusual these days. So I’m afraid they didn’t get anything for their trouble either. It’s a real shame, given the gorgeous position of this restaurant, that the food can’t match up to it. Needless to say, we won’t be back. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £30–40 Food: 1 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 3
