This resort is clearly designed with families in mind. If you have children, they'll never run out of things to do. The setting is absolutely breathtaking, and the young staff are warm, enthusiastic, and genuinely welcoming. You can also feel the legacy of the place—it's obvious many families have been returning year after year, generation after generation. That said, it's also clear that long-time guests may overlook issues that first-time visitors notice. During our stay, we encountered several maintenance and cleanliness concerns (see photos), and there were a few areas with strong, unpleasant odours that suggested possible plumbing or drain backup issues. Given the otherwise beautiful property, these details stood out. The staff were lovely, but many of the junior team members weren't able to answer questions outside of their specific department. It would be helpful if all staff had a general schedule of daily programming and a better understanding of the resort grounds so they could confidently assist guests. The food is well suited to families and children, but I was surprised by how many things came at an additional cost despite the resort being advertised as all-inclusive. Specialty coffees (like espresso), all alcoholic beverages, snacks, and several activities required extra payment per person. While these costs may be outlined somewhere, they weren't what I expected from an all-inclusive experience. The natural beauty of this location almost makes these shortcomings easy to overlook. However, given the premium price, I think it's fair to expect better attention to maintenance and cleanliness, more knowledgeable staff across the property, and greater transparency about what is—and isn't—included. We had a wonderful few days at Fern!! My son was able to join us for a few days and we had a great time.Our room was beautiful, spacious and perfect for us. Nice big balcony that we enjoyed., As usual the food was amazing and the atmosphere so enjoyable. Our servers were all very attentive and looked after us. Being alumni, we are so grateful for the gifts waiting in our room and the lovely letter. So much appreciated!! The pools looked amazing and we all enjoyed having a swim. We have been coming to Fern for years! My son was 8 months on our first visit. It was a favourite vacation spot for my aunt and Grandma as well! My parents had their anniversary party at Fern many yrs ago as well. We have so many wonderful memories of Fern and look forward to making more!! Thank you to all the staff that work hard and make it possible!! Service: 5

My family and I had a mini getaway last week at the Fern Resort and we had a great time! All the staff that we met and interacted with were kind, friendly and very helpful in answering our inquiries. Our room was spacious and had a gorgeous view of the lake. It came with a fireplace (though we didn't need to use it) and had enough space for us to use our pack n play for our little one. The downside to our room was it was a little too cold and there were multiple thermostats in the room, I wasn't really sure which one was for which area. I had to turn off the unit itself but was also worried about the air flow. We were also on the second floor and didn't know it was only stairs and no elevators (didn't see it posted on the website) so we had to carry our stroller up and down every time we left our room. It wasn't the worse thing and our arms got a workout but something to consider for accessibility. The food was amazing - I got the short ribs the first night we were there and it was some of the most tender ribs I've ever had! Our server was also great! She checked in with us on a regular basis and even remembered our drink preferences for the duration of our stay! We didn't do too many sports activities but the recreation room and the nighttime entertainment was a lot of fun! I love that they had a wading pool so we could enjoy it with our little one without worrying about older kids or adults splashing him. They also had a designated lifeguard for the wading pool which I appreciated! The Play Village was an amazing place to have where we could drop off our 6 month old to go do activities or just have a quiet meal. The staff at the Play Village were great! They were so friendly and welcoming and remembered our little one's name and us too! They would give us updates on him if they saw us around the property which was very nice! For infants they do a 1:1 ratio which is amazing and gives me a peace of mind that my baby is being properly looked after! The Play Village is only open during the summer and holidays though so plan accordingly. Special shoutout to Mary who took care of our little one while he was there and to Aubree for babysitting him so we could get a night off! Overall this is a great local all-inclusive option and I would recommend this to anyone looking for a little getaway. It's more of a heritage resort and not a fancy chain resort but still a great time for the entire family!
