Upon my arrival today at said “Fish Box” I was pleasantly greeted by the young stallion of a woman at the front of the shop who seemed to be running the gaff and who I happily gave my order to. What I ordered ended up being a small fish, chips and i actually treat myself to a pot of curry sauce alongside the famous ham and chicken pie. Amazed I was after seeing the pie on the menu. Anyways, I sat down by the window with the best view where I was able to see the whole of Robin Hoods Bay which just added to my meal overall. The food took no longer than 15 minutes for it all to be ready for me to pick up from the front. First thing I tucked my little paws into was them chippies and may I say what a fine potato product they were. Unbelievable texture and a real good flavour which was enhanced by salt and vinegar. Next up the fish. I have to say though not my favourite it definitely had a nice batter about it and was not greasy whatsoever. Going onto the final items being the curry sauce and pie this is where it took a slight detour. The curry sauce was what you’d call a typical friendly condiment best for your chips so nothing bad to say there. However for the pie I can’t say the same. As I took a bite into said pie i realised that it was completely filled with shredded chicken which took any moisture out of the pie. Had me choking there and then swear to god. Good flavour none the less. Bit saddened by the lack of ham within the pie, struggled to find any. Atmosphere of the shop felt very malnourished if i can say that, maybe it was just the day I picked to pop in ( This was June 23rd) One thing that immediately needs to be sorted out within the shop was the roof. I looked up whilst in there and noticed what I can only call a flock of flies swarming on the ceiling. Mortified I was, i’ll drop a photo down below. Overall for my experience i’d say it was slightly better then mediocre and would return but i’ll be sitting outside if i was to.
