Fantastic food and views on a beautiful working fish harbour! Good parking nearby and perfect for anyone with a walking disability, lots of benches and places to rest and eat. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Finished our break in Northumberland with lunch at The Fish Shack. Was absolutely fabulous. This small resturaunt overlooking Amble harbour was full but not noisy and service was friendly,quick and attentive but not intrusive.The seafood we ate was some of the best we have had. Will definitely be back on our next visit.You do need to book before hand as it is so popular but there are outside seating when weather good Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £80–90

Visited this establishment with my very elderly father, who had been before and wanted to sample the fish and chips. He was hugely disappointed, found the fish to be a rather thin fillet, and the chips black and unappetising, although I could see that there were a few that were paler. Overall, he felt that he would not return again, and was appalled at the appearance of the meal, stating that he would never consider serving anyone black chips. He was less than enamoured of the mushy peas too! Overall, he would only give the experience 2 out of 10, and that was at a push.
