July 12, around 6pm. I have been a loyal customer of this Fortinos location for a long time, often stopping here for meals, desserts, and flowers. It has always felt like a comfortable "home" base for me, which is why I am so deeply saddened and unsettled by the experience I had today. I visited to order a mochachino, a drink I order frequently. From the moment I approached the counter, the attendant was exceptionally rude. When I received the drink, it was undrinkable, cloyingly sweet, tasting only of heavy chocolate syrup rather than the balanced coffee I am used to. When I politely asked if it could be remade with less sweetness, the attendant was dismissive and hostile, refusing to help and claiming, "that’s just the way it is." When I explained that it had never been served this way before, she refused to adjust it, blaming me for not specifying the number of pumps, something I have never had to do in the past. The situation escalated when I felt the cashier began mocking and blabbering about the situation while I was standing there. It was a humiliating and deeply unprofessional environment. While a manager eventually stepped in to remake the drink, the interaction was far from resolved. The coffee remained poorly prepared, and even as I left, the staff continued to mock me, insisting that the error was entirely mine for not specifying the number of pumps. I was especially concerned to learn that the person in charge was a new manager. Regardless of how new one is to a role, they are in a position of authority and have a responsibility to address poor behavior. Instead, by supporting the staff's conduct rather than correcting it, they allowed the situation to escalate. I was so exhausted by the hostility that I simply left, but the experience left me in tears and feeling incredibly cornered. I am shocked that the staff would treat a customer with such hostility and refuse to acknowledge that a mistake might have been made in the preparation. Given the way I was treated today, I can no longer consider this location a place I want to visit for coffee or service. I hope store leadership addresses this culture of rudeness, as it is a complete departure from the standards I have come to expect from Fortinos.
