I can't express enough how lovely the food is, and the fish and chips were amazing. The Owners were so accommodating. If we come back to the area this is 100% where we will go! Definitely recommend. First time trying the Golden Mermaid in Middlesbrough and I'll definitely be returning. The food was nice, and I really appreciated that the chips are cooked in vegetable oil and not fat . They have good vegetarian options, which is a nice find for a chippy. My only tiny suggestion would be to add some Quorn sausages to the menu for even more variety . The staff were chatty and friendly, making the experience really welcoming . The portions are generous and great value. I did notice that some customers have mentioned the batter can occasionally be a bit overdone or have an unusual aftertaste, but I didn't experience that on my visit . Overall, a great local spot with tasty produce and a lovely family-run vibe. I'll be back! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
