This one-star review is for the hostess only — specifically the hostess who worked on Sunday morning, June 28th. I’ve been coming to Golden Rice Bowl countless times since I was a kid. The food and service have always been great, which is why today’s experience was so disappointing. When we walked in, we stood at the entrance waiting to be greeted. I wasn’t sure who the hostess was since I hadn’t been here in a while. I noticed a lady holding a pen and paper chatting with a customer at a table near the entrance. At first I assumed she was the hostess, but after she looked in our direction several times and continued her conversation, I started thinking maybe I was mistaken. 5 minutes passed and still no one acknowledged us. Finally, one of the ladies pushing the dim sum cart noticed us. She looked toward that same lady I originally thought was the hostess and gestured to let her know customers were waiting at the entrance. The hostess looked over at us again… and CONTINUED talking!!! When she finally came over, an elderly lady, out of nowhere, suddenly stepped in front of us and started speaking to the hostess. I told the hostess that we had been here first and her response was, “Oh, it doesn’t matter.” The other customer was only asking where her friends were sitting and honestly could have waited. Before I had a chance to say anything, the hostess led us to our table. The rest of the dining experience was great, and the food was as good as always. My negative experience today was entirely due to the hostess’s lack of professionalism!!! Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $20–30
