This was my first — and will be my last — experience at Haptik Newtownards. Why? Because I left feeling completely ripped off. I ordered a takeaway skinny (skimmed milk), decaffeinated cappuccino and was charged £4.30. I was already surprised by the price, but things got worse from there. The barista began making my drink with semi-skimmed milk, so I reminded her that I had requested skimmed milk. She then informed me that they didn't have any skimmed milk available. While waiting, I checked the menu and noticed that a cappuccino was listed at £3.80. I asked why I had been charged £4.30 and was met with a look of disbelief that I would even question it. I was told that there was an extra charge for both the decaffeinated coffee and the skinny milk. Charging extra for decaf is one thing, but charging extra for skimmed milk that wasn't even available is another entirely. And the cup was tiny (10cm tall) Outrageous. I try and avoid the big 3 (starbucks, costa and Cafe Nero) but at least they don't charge you extra for decaffeinated, skimmed milk and the size is fair for the price! In response: Thank you for taking the time out to reply. Whilst I understand processing costs for decaffeinated coffee are greater, what is more the issue here is the lack of transparency. . Under UK consumer protection laws including the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations cafes MUST make prices clear, transparent, and visible, upfront, so customers are not misled. Hiding mandatory surcharges or adding surprise fees at the till actually breaks the law. Nowhere on your menus does it state you add surcharges for decaffeinated coffee. Also, I should correct my previous assumption: Caffe Nero do actually add a 10p charge for decaffeinated coffee, which is a bit more reasonable than 50p. Maybe find other ways to offset these higher costs so as you can compete with the big 3? I wish you well in continuing your business/ enterprise. Hi Fiona, We don't usually reply to reviews, as we much prefer receiving feedback in person so we have the opportunity to put things right straight away. However, we did want to clarify the pricing mentioned in your review. Firstly, our apologies. During a particularly busy service we ran out of skimmed milk and were only able to source semi-skimmed milk from a local shop as a temporary alternative. Our standard 8oz cappuccino is £3.80, made with our house espresso and dairy milk. We do charge a 50p supplement for decaf espresso, bringing the total to £4.30. Decaf coffee is highlighted on our menu under the Hot Drink extras section, along with syrups, upsizing, extra shot etc. There is NO additional charge for your dairy milk choice. You'll find that many independent cafés charge a small supplement for decaf, as it costs us more to source. Even with this supplement, we believe our pricing remains in line with, or below, many larger national coffee chains. We completely understand that you may personally not agree with our pricing, but we do want to ensure the information shared is accurate.

I’m going to start off by saying that, I am not a person who likes waffles. It is extremely hard to impress me. But dear God, these were the best waffles I have ever had in my life! I’m being so serious. We were just visiting Ireland. The trip started off extremely roughlike ptsd level of rough. But these beautiful waffles made the trip ten thousand times worthwhile. The vibe inside the cafe was cozy, the staff were super helpful when we needed a taxi. We even went back again before we left the country. I had the savory waffles (front plate) and my sister had the sweet waffles(back plate). I genuinely wish I had the recipe bc paying $600 to fly round trip to Ireland to just get some waffles seems a bit ridiculous I am considering it though. Once again, exemplary service and food. Never fails to blow me away. I wish they would offer cookery classes, i.would very top of the list. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: £10–20
