The Harp Inn is tucked away from the centre of Parkgate down by the Quayside - for many years drivers had to negotia access along an unadopted road full of pot holes but now the road has been tarmaced, so car owners no longer need worry about their vehicles suspension. The Harp is steeped in history and allegedly has smugglers tunnels running under the Dee Estuary from a bygone age, when Little Neston had a coalmine nearby. It is a comparatively small pub compared to others in the vicinity but it is a gem of a pub and though the bar is small, serves a good range of beers. Recently refurbished I think I have remember beimg taken there over 60 years ago on Sunday's when I was young for a ginger beer and plain crisps (with the blue salt sachets inside every bag. These days The Harp still proves popular and has many regulars. Atmosphere inside tends to be quite quiite as customers a pint or two of beer. Seating is fine but when busy it can be 'a bit of a squash'that's not a criticism but it is true a times. The Harp Inn is in my opinion like a 'countryside pub. In the summer many customers sit outside with picnic style tables and seatings. Views looking over the Dèe and North-Wales draw many to The Harp, and in the summer in good weather during evenings, sunsets can be stunning, well with a visit. Staff have pride in what they do running the pub, always willing to chat - friendly. Car parking can be a bit problematical but that should not put you off.
