I visited in early July, on my first night in London. It was a quiet summer evening, which was exactly what I needed after a long day of travelling. The food was lovely, and the service was wonderful too. The view is gorgeous, with the Millennium Bridge as a backdrop. If you opt for outdoor seating, just be prepared for runners passing by, as it seems to sit on a local running route. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £40–50

We had a fantastic evening at High Timber with a group of six. From start to finish, everything was exceptional — the food, wine, service and, of course, the stunning views over the River Thames. We started with a delicious selection of starters including the beef tartare, asparagus, potted mackerel and biltong croquettes. We then enjoyed the steaks and chicken for our mains, accompanied by homemade biltong, with every dish beautifully prepared and full of flavour. For dessert, we shared the malva pudding, panna cotta and chocolate brownie — all absolutely delicious and the perfect way to finish the meal. The wine selection was fantastic, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Sitting by the river with such a beautiful view made the whole evening even more special. A brilliant South African restaurant in London that we would highly recommend. We had a truly memorable night and will definitely be coming back!
