I came here to have lunch with a friend a couple of weeks ago. The place looks great and staff was friendly and helpful. We had a Bacon Double, a Karaage Kid and a portion of Onion Rings - everything tasted so good and I will definitely come back during my next trip to Cornwall. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £20–30

We visited Hub Box Truro today as a family, and unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. My husband ordered the beef burger, which he enjoyed, and my daughter had a meal from the kids' menu, which was also fine. My son ordered the Mother Clucker (chicken with chips and Korean BBQ sauce). Unfortunately, there was so much sauce on it that it completely overpowered the meal. I initially ordered the vegetarian Chicken Mayo with garlic fries. Before the food was prepared, I changed my mind and asked the waitress to cancel that order and instead bring me the vegetarian version of the Mother Clucker, the same meal as my son but with the vegetarian option. She acknowledged the change. When our food arrived, I was served both the vegetarian Mother Clucker and the Chicken Mayo that I had specifically asked to cancel. I immediately pointed this out to the waitress, but she simply said, "It's with the Mother Clucker," and told me not to worry, giving me the impression that everything had been sorted. When it came to paying the bill, I discovered I had been charged for the Chicken Mayo as well. It became clear that the waitress had only cancelled the garlic fries and had forgotten to cancel the Chicken Mayo. As a result, I had to pay for a meal that I had cancelled and ended up taking it home to eat later when it was cold. To make matters worse, my vegetarian Mother Clucker was absolutely covered in Korean BBQ sauce. There was so much sauce that I couldn't taste the halloumi at all, and even the chips were drenched in it. The sauce completely overpowered the meal and spoiled what could have been a nice vegetarian option. Mistakes can happen in any restaurant, but what really disappointed us was the way the situation was handled. There was no apology, no explanation, and no attempt to correct the mistake before we paid. Overall, we left feeling extremely disappointed with both the food and the customer service. We expected much better and, sadly, this experience has put us off returning. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

We understand how frustrating that must have been. However, we would like to clarify that when we checked back on your table no issues were raised, and when you came to pay, no concerns were mentioned about being charged for the cancelled meal. Had this been brought to our attention we would have immediately corrected a genuine mistake before you left. We always aim to resolve issues there and then whenever given the opportunity, we are sorry that wasn't the case on your visit. We value all feedback as it helps us improve. and we hope you consider giving us another chance in the future.
