I had such high hopes grabbing lunch from here yesterday and it pains me to write such a negative review but I can't remember the last time I had such an awful dish. In all fairness I decided to try one of their noodle dishes offered: Pork Belly Kung Pao Noodles ($12). There was no description otherwise. When I asked the gentleman in the window to tell me more, he said it was made with wheat noodles (like spaghetti) and the flavour being salty, sweet and spicy and so good that they tend to sell out. Well that description sold me, and who doesn't like pork belly? So I went ahead and ordered that along with with the Bao Beignets (2 for $3). Never again. The sauce accompanying the dish was soooooooo so salty that it killed my palate. Even after my first bite I was hesitant to have any more. Not only that, yes I tasted the spiciness in the sauce but there was zero sweetness. So in the end the flavour profile was heavily heavily salty with spice, oh and super greasy and oily. That doesn't sound so pleasant does it? Ugh. The only freshness of the dish came from a few sprigs of green onions garnished on top, but even these were too onion-y so I pushed them aside. Aside from the noodles, the dish was peppered with a few pieces of red peppers, dark browned to burnt pieces of peanuts and just a small portion of pork belly. Yes I was interested in seeing just how much pork belly was used in the dish so you'll see in the photo, when all the other items are removed, just how small the portion is and just how small the actual pieces are. Also note the heavy use of oil and just a few of the many burnt pieces of peanuts. Even though I ended up pushing myself to eat through a few more bites of this dish (it was $12 c'mon!) I should've just threw it all away because I was so ridiculously thirsty for the rest of the day (I drank 5 glasses of water over the next 3 hours). Really. On the bright side, the bao beignets were delightful and thank goodness I had something sweet to balance out the meal. They were fluffy, fresh and lightly coated with sugar. The accompanying caramel sauce was a lovely touch too. If iI ever go again, I would definitely get those once more.

First time trying KaBao since it's often near my work. Had the Walkie Shiitake and it was pleasantly surprising how tasty it was. The Steamed Bun 'Taco' was nice and fluffy. Could stand to be spicier and that's my only complaint Will definitely eat here again !
