Food was delicious and fresh and service was friendly and welcoming. Honesty, the best Greek restaurant we have tried. We tried pork gyros, lamb chops, and chicken souvlaki and all were amazing! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20

We visited Taste of the Danforth on August 9, 2026, and decided to stop at Kalyvia Restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately, what should have been an enjoyable evening turned into one of the most disappointing restaurant experiences we’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the service felt completely disorganized. There was no hostess available to greet or seat us, so I eventually had to approach the bartender myself just to ask whether they had a table available. After being seated, we waited approximately 15 minutes before a waiter finally approached and asked whether anyone had served us. When I told him no, he called over a waitress — the same waitress who had already walked past our table several times without acknowledging us. Taking our order wasn’t much better. I had to repeat my order multiple times. Then we were brought side plates even though we hadn’t ordered any appetizers, which only added to the confusion. When our main courses finally arrived, we had no napkins, and my partner wasn’t even provided with a knife. These are basic things that should already be on the table when a meal is served. I ended up having to get out of my seat twice during dinner to deal with things that should have been handled by the staff. Unfortunately, the food didn’t make up for the service either. Based on our experience with other Greek restaurants, the quality simply wasn’t up to the standard we expected. I understand that Taste of the Danforth can make restaurants extremely busy, and I’m willing to give staff some understanding for that. But being busy doesn’t excuse a complete breakdown in basic hospitality — greeting customers, acknowledging a table, accurately taking an order and making sure guests have napkins and proper utensils. I normally believe in recognizing good service with a good tip. On this occasion, I left only $2.00 because the level of service simply did not justify anything more. Kalyvia has a great opportunity being located in the heart of the Danforth, but based on our experience tonight, the service, organization and attention to customers need serious improvement. A busy night can explain a delay. It shouldn’t explain being forgotten. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Order type: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–40
