We stayed here for our 10th anniversary, the food was lovely. The one thing that really let the experience down was the lack of cleanliness. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. As a professional cleaner and someone who has been in hospitality for many years, it was really obvious the cleaning staff need quality control checks and further training. The shampoo and body wash bottles were completely empty, the baseboards were covered in hair and dust, especially behind doors, curtains, and furniture. The water glasses in the room were dirty, as were the spoons. When we took the dirty glass wear and spoons to the girl at the bar ( as reception was deserted) Her attitude was pretty nonchalant, but she did say that she would inform the manager. The drip tray on the coffee machine was caked in old coffee. However, I will say the bathrooms were quite clean. When we did speak to the manager, she offered us another room. The other room had the same lack of cleaning ( and empty shampoo and body wash containers) When we went down for breakfast, we were surrounded by dirty breakfast dishes just left on the surrounding tables by other guests that had eaten before us. There's really no excuse for any of this. The cost of the menu was a bit high, but we did find another pub/ hotel right up the street with much better menu prices/cleaning standards and had dinner there instead. At 108 pounds a night, we left pretty unimpressed, and won't be returning. We ARE booking for our 11th anniversary at the great place we discovered up the street. The cost of the rooms was exactly the same, the facilities were cleaner, the staff was impressive, and the food was amazing.

The King's Head is a wee bit special I have to say. Lovely staff, great food and the rooms with their big walk in showers are a bit special too. Great clientele also. I can't fault it and it's up there for value for money. Usk is a special place too. To everyone working at the King's Head, thank you for a lovely stay

We decided to stay in Usk on the off chance, we had not booked in advance. The Kings Head Hotel were happy to offer us a room despite being super busy with a wedding. Our overnight stay was lovely, newly refurbished room with comfy bed & great shower. Enjoyed tasty 2 course bar meal and welsh breakfast on Sunday morning set us up for the day. Really helpful & friendly team.
