Jakość jedzenia oraz obsługa na najwyższym poziomie. Nie da się wyżej. Styl miejsca jest poprawny i nie dominuje w żadnym kierunku. Jeśli jednak miałbym jakąś sugestie to szparag mógłby być mniej uduszony -bardziej chrupki. Pamiętajmy, jednak, że kuchnia na bardzo wysokim poziomie! Obfituje w ciekawe balansu smakowe a jedzenie jest podróżą.

Needs the Michelin star removed, and then it'll be properly represented, I think, as an overpriced (bizarrely hard to find) restaurant for tourists. I'd like to start with the weirdest part, which came at the end: the chef came around to all the tables to ask how things had been. The mostly American crowd all murmured some version of 'great!' and got a similar reply back from the chef. When he got to me, I politely answered, "Well, there were some problems." I prefer to be honest and wouldn't have sought anyone out for a complaint...but here was the chef, asking, so it seemed the right moment! His response? "I'm sorry to hear that," turned on his heel, and ran away. I was surprised but now find it wildly comical. Who does that?! Has no one ever answered anything OTHER than "fantastic!"?? Wouldn't you at least want to ask, "Oh? What happened?" I ordered the Prestige Surprise Tasting Menu (priciest menu, at £215). Figured I'd like to see what I got offered. They ask what foods you don't like or for allergies (no allergies, but I have a few foods I'd prefer to avoid and shared those). Got them anyway (hence my comment to the chef) and when I mentioned it to the waiter, I said I'd simply push them to the side (mushrooms). He apologized and said OK and ran off (no other attempts to make it right). I'd say the food across this tasting menu was quite similar to the a la carte items I saw on the menu (e.g.,, the scallops baked in the shell and other items), no real standouts. I'd further say The Kitchin does vegetables really well, fish pretty well, meats/other game less so. If you go despite my review, get the plain ol' tasting menu or just order a la carte and focus on seafood/fresh produce. I asked the sommelier to give me two weird wines that most people don't order and he delivered on a red Lebanese wine; the white (from where, I forgot) for the earlier courses was less memorable. Beyond the mid-level food, where the Kitchin really falls down is on service. I had a sort of 'assigned' waiter but there were many others dropping off various courses and often they did not understand what they were serving. If you've been in a restaurant like this in other countries, you know how important some 'ease' is. They were all so awkward, it made ME feel awkward; there was just no vibe or skill. I've only ever worked as a waitress in lesser establishments, so I'm not pretending to have maximum rizz, as the kids say, but you do well to put yoru customers at ease, and they really had no clue. I suspect this comes down to a training issue. I often waited ~20 minutes between courses. I was finally so exhausted after close to 3 hours (most of which was just me...sitting there) that I asked for my dessert to go. They didn't have the climate well-controlled (it being a hot day, for Edinburgh) so the long seating felt hot and even longer. How you know service for me fell down, beyond just my description: tables of other couples were in and out before me. I suspect they just got overwhelmed during their main 'rush' hours and figured they'd pay less attention to the woman alone in the corner. About those other customers: heavy on the Americans (to be expected this time of year, I suppose), which is probably a clue that the locals know better. One family brought 2 kids in under the age of 4, both of whom cried/screamed sporadically (and no, neither parent left the table with them). There has to be a better way to run this place! TL;DR: mid food, poor service, a chef who asks how the food is and then doesn't care what you say, not worth the money. If you want a fantastic Michelin-starred experience in Edinburgh, I suggest Timberyard, instead, which covers all the bases. Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £100+
