When I have time to eat on campus, I typically buy something from La Prep. However, I have noticed multiple times now where the staff does not hand the cash register directly to customers and inserts the tip charge anyways without the customer’s consent. This is a violation of customers’ rights and is unethical. Today, the cashier took the cash register and included in a tip charge before handing it to me. This is not right, especially since I merely ordered 1 smoothie that literally only takes about 2-3 minutes to make. 1 smoothie costed me $8.98 CAD—absurd. Also, tipping should not be required for quick food places like La Prep, especially since it is not a fancy dining restaurant where I am being served by a waiter/ waitress. Tipping is at the dissection of the customer. This ill-mannered behaviour of the staff needs to stop. Most of the customers are full-time students and campus food is already expensive enough. Forcing tipping is a no-no. Additionally, a lot of the food made such as the sandwiches are quite sloppy with how heavy handed the employees are with the sauce. The food is decent but you just taste so much of the sauce that it becomes wet. Also, their matcha latte is tasteless—you cannot taste the matcha base at all. worst matcha I think I’ve ever had colour speaks for itself. I would give it a one star, but the staff was polite so they get a 2. I didn’t expect the matcha to be ceremonial grade, but it genuinely looked like they made my drink with sewage water. And they used JAM instead of strawberry puree, so my drink wouldn’t even mix. I’m super surprised they still have matcha on their menu. Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3

While this place has delicious food, their portions keep getting smaller and the prices higher. My sandwich is so small, the size of a regular iPhone and it was $13. Insane. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
