Excellent food, quick service, excellent gluten free options, significant portion sizes! The food here is exceptional 100/10. Highly recommended for anybody. Especially the duck confit, a must try! But service is only so-so. Atmosphere is a little bit noisy. Le Paradis? More like L'enfer. In summary, the staff seemed unwelcoming, bordering on resentful. Vibes were very strange, and seemingly preferential to older Caucasians. Food was good, but wasn't good enough to carry the weight of the rest of the disappointments. I came here for my birthday, making a reservation online, and stated the fact in the reservation comments. Throughout the entire dinner service, it did not seem like anyone was aware of that at all. Upon arrival, the host was helping other guests who had just arrived. When it came time for him to help my partner and I, he headed straight to his notes rather than acknowledging our presence. Shortly after, he looked up at us and said "reservation?" In a cold manner. I did not feel like I was welcome in this establishment. When we were seated, our server handed us our menus and gave us what felt like mere moments to decide on what to have. When we said we were still deciding, it felt like we were forgotten about. There was no consistency with how much time we were given to order. I ordered the braised beef, and my partner ordered the duck. The dishes were great, however the duck was served with braised cabbage which my partner could not eat due to an intolerance to an ingredient not listed, or even hinted at in the menu description. The menu description only stated "braised cabbage" not "braised cabbage with spices". When I mentioned that we had this small issue with the item, the server went on a tirade about how we should've let her know about the intolerance, and how the menu would be 300 pages long if they listed every ingredient. We were shocked and disappointed with that response, as it's rather common for servers to ask if guests have any allergies. Throughout the entire dinner, we noticed that the server was more animated and warm with the rest of the guests seated around us. We also noted that the rest of the guests seated around us were older white folks. It felt like they did not care for the patronage of a young Asian/white interracial couple. The establishment felt outdated and not well kept. It gave the energy of a restaurant riding on the coattails of it's former glory. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
