A CHRISTMAS EXPERIENCE AT THE LEAGATE INN – LINCOLNSHIRE There are places where you simply have dinner, and then there are places where you create memories. Our experience at the Leagate Inn, the renowned four-star hotel in Coningsby, was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our time in Lincolnshire. Located in this wonderful English village, around 21 miles from Burgh le Marsh via the A155, it gave us what I can honestly describe as one of the most beautiful Christmas periods we have ever experienced in Lincolnshire. What immediately captured our attention was the typically English décor. With the fireplace burning and the warm atmosphere surrounding us, it genuinely felt as though time had stopped. A quintessentially British setting, full of character, tradition and charm. The welcome was not initially what we expected, but credit where it is due: the team recovered brilliantly, providing a service that became attentive, professional and never intrusive throughout the evening. The menu offered a wide selection of traditional British dishes, from Starters & Sharing Plates, to the Leagate Grill & Classics, Chef’s Specials and a great choice of sides. We decided to experience some true Lincolnshire flavours, choosing the famous Lincolnshire Sausage & Mash, made with the traditional sausages of the county, together with Chicken Madeira. We finished with another British classic: Cheese & Biscuits. Everything was accompanied by an excellent Brunilde di Menzione Salice Salentino No riserva from Puglia Italy , bringing the total experience to £195. And yes, sometimes, after travelling so much and being surrounded by the classics of Italian cuisine, it is wonderful to sit down and rediscover the beauty of authentic British food and hospitality. For us, the Leagate Inn is certainly one of the places worth discovering in Coningsby and Lincolnshire. If you are in the area, or travelling by car from Skegness or Burgh le Marsh, it is absolutely worth the journey. We recommend it to anyone looking for something different, traditional and genuinely British. I was particularly fascinated by this part of Lincolnshire — its villages, countryside, history and atmosphere. And the Leagate Inn fits perfectly into that landscape. Thank you to the owner for creating such a special place and for giving customers memories to take home, no matter where they come from. A place with character. A taste of Britain. We had lunch as a party of four, we were seated in a corner with very little room to move. My husband had to get out to let someone on the next table out. Seating was very squashed and didn’t leave enough room to move. The lunch time menu was very limited and quite pricey, The food was served quickly and was hot and tasty although we all thought it was not good value Fish and chips was £20 95p and a fish roll from the small plate menu was £13 .95p definitely not good value. A good point was that it was dog friendly however a dog appeared out of nowhere as we were leaving and attacked my dog who doesn’t have an aggressive streak I him. Not the pub’s responsibility but they should ensure dogs are kept on a lead and under control.
