ONE TASTE…. More like NO TASTE! Excessive amount of MSG. LIN CHI changed their name recently to ONE TASTE. This would appear quite apt, as EVERYTHING on the menu literally tastes the same. This because of the sheer amount of MSG that is used in ALL the dishes. The food here has NEVER been spectacular and I have only ever ordered from here a handful of times. This is because MAN HONG- the BEST CHINESE in north London, sadly closed. Lin Chi/ ONE TASTE, does not even come close. There is absolutely NOTHING special about their Special Fried Rice- bland ( I’m. Sure they mix old/left over rice into to it )their beef is dry, their Satay Chicken tough and peanut sauce is watery. Every thing is smothered in MSG, so your tongue mouth and lips prickle on every bite. THIS INGREDIENT should absolutely be explicitly highlighted on the menu, right next to where they advertise all the so called allergens. But it is purposefully omitted. The people that work there really have no basic understanding of what customer service is. They really do not care. Everyone in Burnt Oak and Edgware share the same opinion of the RUDE telephone girl. Prices have gone up steadily but quality has gone down steadily. They charge £2:50 for local deliveries, even if you are spending over £50 and they take over an hour to deliver….. and I’m a 3 minute drive away. They literally just want your money. I called them back and told them of my poor experience and that it would be the last time they got any of my well earned cash. Don’t waste your time and money… there are plenty FAR BETTER and tastier Chinese in the area that are more value for money.
