BBC News Devon & Cornwall Police should investigate the owners and the area manager for fraud! Although the pubs were slowly going down hill, the owners sold their cocktail bar and bought a house that was over 1 million pound. The staff (including some who live on site) have had less than a weeks notice that they will become homeless, jobless and will not now receive any money their were due in wages at the end of this month! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE! The owners had various holidays one after the other! It also seems suspect that their Area Manager also decided to lease her own pub shortly before = SHE KNEW WHAT WAS ABOUT TO HAPPEN!

The Lugger Inn offers tidy rooms, great food and very pleasant service from Tom, but serious billing issues and the lack of response to follow‑up contact made the overall experience deeply unsatisfactory. Positives • The room was tidy and presentable, meeting expectations for cleanliness and basic comfort. • Tom was extremely pleasant to deal with, providing friendly, helpful service during the stay. • The food was truly sensational, to the point where it stood out as one of the highlights of the visit, matching the kind of praise seen in other guest comments about the inn’s food and hospitality. Serious concerns • The accommodation had been paid for in full via Wotif.com prior to arrival, and a “Paid in Full” receipt and accompanying conversation thread clearly confirmed this. • On departure, staff claimed there was still an outstanding balance, and at least two other couples appeared to be having the same issue at the same time, suggesting this was not an isolated incident. • Despite showing proof of full payment, approximately an hour after leaving there was an additional charge on the card from the hotel, processed via manual entry of the card details, which is a very serious and unacceptable practice. Follow‑up and customer care • Attempts were made to resolve this directly with the Lugger Inn, including emails and telephone calls, but there has been no response at all. • This lack of engagement, combined with an unexplained manual charge after full pre‑payment, feels like a breach of trust and has completely overshadowed the otherwise positive aspects of the stay. Overall impression • While the inn itself has potential, with pleasant staff on site and excellent food, the way the payment was handled and the subsequent silence when asked to rectify the issue is unacceptable behaviour. • Until the unexplained charge is refunded and the communication issues are addressed, this experience would not be recommended to others, especially those booking and paying in advance through third‑party sites. We had a really enjoyable visit to The Lugger Inn in Cornwall. The food was delicious and well presented, with generous portions that felt good value for money. Everything we ordered tasted fresh and was clearly prepared with care. The place is well decorated with a good Christmas atmosphere Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
