I am very sorry to hear about your experience.Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies that you were not notified in advance regarding Donostia’s closure. We have currently been hosting Donostia’s menu at our sister restaurant, Maset. As yours was a last-minute booking, we unfortunately missed transitioning your reservation and updating you in time. I completely understand how this frustrating start set the wrong tone for your evening.I am also incredibly sorry that the hospitality you received felt cold. Regardless of the circumstances, our team should always serve our guests with warmth and attentiveness, and I will be addressing your comments regarding the service directly with our staff.I understand that Lurra’s price point is high. Operating in central London means we face very different overheads compared to Spain, making it impossible to match those prices, though we do everything we can to keep them as competitive as possible.To reassure you on our quality, we strictly strive to source the highest quality products available. While our Rubia Gallega beef is Galician, it is an absolute staple in the top grill houses (Asadores) of the Basque Country. The same applies to our Cantabrian anchovies, Feo de Tudela tomatoes, and Galician octopus, all of which are celebrated throughout Basque gastronomy. For some of our seafood, like our Turbot, we source locally from day-boats in Cornwall to ensure maximum freshness, and they are well know for their quality. Ironically, many of these same British boats export to Spain!We appreciate your feedback as it helps us review our systems and service standards which we always try to improve.
