Dinner at Macau Kitchen was a delightful experience. The food was par excellence and so was the service. We had heard some very good things about the food and were not disappointed at all. Every single item was unique, and delicious. Between the two of us we had a drink, a starter, a main each and shared a dessert and were full to the brim. What we really liked is that the flavours were deep and rich, and brought a lot of joy. Do reserve your table beforehand because it does get really busy. Price per person: £40–50 Vegetarian offerings: Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes

We stumbled upon this restaurant during a stroll around lunch. They weren't open until 6pm, but I'm glad we decided to make the trek back and check it out. It felt like discovering a hidden treasure! The food is phenomenal, the three ladies working the restaurant couldn't be any nicer! It is a small restaurant with less than 10 tables, so be patient, or book ahead if you have a larger group. We had the crispy salad, signature crispy duck, and the sweet and sour squid, and we didn't leave any food behind. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian offerings: Vegetarian menu or section

This is a place for foodies. Our first meal here was so good that my friend and I had dinner here two nights in a row on a 5-day trip to the city. Outstanding dishes, especially if you go off the beaten path and let yourself be guided by the chef’s/owners’ expert recommendations and the daily changing menu on the blackboard. We loved the original flavor combinations that less adventurous restaurants don’t often include on the menu (shallots on a simple and memorable coconut mousse!). We also loved the warmth and friendliness of everyone here and their excitement when talking to us about the dishes. They clearly love and know good food. We are sad we don’t live near enough to become regulars here. Overall, this is a rare hidden gem. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
